The goal of this study was to see if Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (SMR) affected bone deformities in diabetic rats. In a rat model of osteoporosis, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix has been found to be beneficial. However, it is uncertain if Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix can prevent osteoporosis in diabetics. The effects of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix on bone oxidative stress and turnover markers in diabetic rats were examined in this study. Streptozotocin was used to cause diabetes (STZ). Diabetic Sprague Dawley rats (n =6) were administered either saline (control), metformin (1000mg/kg bw), or Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (5g/kg bw) by gavage for 8 weeks.A healthy rat group was employed as a standard control group. Insulin, oxidative stress and bone turnover markers were measured in the blood using ELISA assays. Insulin and osteocalcin levels were significantly higher in diabetic rats administered Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix than in diabetic control rats. Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix may be able to prevent diabetic osteoporosis by boosting osteogenesis and lowering bone oxidative stress. These findings support the use of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix in diabetic individuals as an osteoporosis therapy.
In the practice of modern medicine, peripheral venous cannulation is a must. Endothelial damage and trauma caused by intravenous catheters can lead to venous thrombosis. Peripheral vein infusion thrombophlebitis affects 25-35 percent of hospitalized patients who have intravenous catheters and it has both patient-related (e.g., sepsis) and financial implications (e.g., extra nursing time). This study was designed to assess the knowledge of nurses on the risk factors and prevention of Phlebitis. A cross sectional descriptive study was used among 30 nurses. The questionnaire was a modified Lanbeck et al1. Questionnaire which had 17 closed-ended questions about phlebitis risk factors. The questionnaire was circulated to the nurses as Google sheets and the data was analysed.Nurses with a diploma, as opposed to nurses with a higher education, were unaware that the material of the cannula (p = 0.05) and the time it took to replace the infusion system (p = 0.01) had an impact on the incidence of phlebitis. According to a large proportion of nurses qualified with diploma education, the intravenous cannula should be updated based on clinical indications, according to a large proportion of nurses with diploma education (p = 0.01). Similarly, the work experience of the nurses played a significant role in choosing the appropriate cannula size for their patients to reduce the chances of phlebitis (p = 0.001). The study emphasised a regular need based in-service education for nurses.
By empowering nurses to take more responsibility for their own learning, mobile health has the potential to transform the role of educators. As a result, the purpose of this study was to see how a mobile health strategy affected emergency nurses' knowledge of the Emergency Service Index triage system. A quasi-experimental study was conducted on emergency room nurses in 2 selected hospitals. In each group, the sample size was 25 nurses (a total of fifty participants). Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: mobile health or workshop. A self-administered questionnaire with twenty questions was used to assess participants' knowledge. There was no significant difference in knowledge grades between the m-health and induction training groups before the intervention, but there was (p=0.013) after the 2-week intervention. For emergency nurses, the m-health program was an effective education tool since it empowered nurses to take more responsibility for their own learning. As a result, it is proposed that educators can adopt m-health in association with standard training because it is less expensive and takes less time.
The anti-osteoporotic properties of Angelica sinensis root (ASR) extract in diabetic rats treated with streptozotocin (STZ) were investigated in the current study. Angelica sinensis rootextract (300mg/kg, p.o. once daily) was given to the STZ treated rats for eight weeks. The BMD of the bone (femur) mineral density (BMD) of rats given the extract (300mg/kg) was considerably greater than that of the control group. Blood osteocalcin and ALP levels were significantly lower after the STZ injection, but serum DPD levels were significantly higher than in the normal control group. Despite no significant differences in BALP values across all treatment groups, blood osteocalcin levels increased while DPD decreased during Angelica sinensis root therapy. The findings show that Angelica sinensis extract can help diabetic rats that have been exposed to STZ.

Pain and anxiety are an unpleasant feeling and emotional experience which results in physical and psychological disturbances. As an effective nursing care relies on patient physical and psychological comfort during cannulation of Av fistula. A Quasi experimental study was conducted to assess the level of pain and anxiety during cannulation of AV fistula. Valsalva maneuver was employed for the experimental group before the cannulation and after the intervention, post-test was done to assess the level of pain and anxiety after the treatment. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and was found out that in the experimental group for the level of pain, the pre-test and post-test mean score was 4.96 and 1.43 and the obtained ‘t’ test value was 5.178. Also, the level of anxiety for the pre-test and post-test mean score was 11.9 and 6.0 and the obtained ‘t’ test value was 5.254. The significance achieved was at the level of 0.05. The result showed that there was significant reduction in pain and anxiety during cannulation of AV Fistula among the experimental group of patients undergoing hemodialysis.
A comparative study was conducted among patients with bronchial asthma at Vinayaka Mission Hospital, Salem with the objective of assessing the effectiveness of incentive spirometry (ISP) versus deep breathing exercises (DBE) on selected respiratory parameters among patients with bronchial asthma. Thirty patients with bronchial asthma were selected by purposive sampling technique and data was collected from the patients by using structured interview schedule, observational check list for assessing breathing pattern, Revised Borg Dyspnea scale, level of spo2 and level of peak expiratory flow rate. Comparison of mean,SD and mean percentage of selected respiratory parameters revealed that mean score was 3.87 ± 4.05 after ISP exercises whereas in DBE group mean score was 3.8 ± 3.78 after breathing exercises.Paired ‘t’test was calculated to analyze the significance difference revealed in ISP and DBE group, there was highly significant difference in respiratory parameters, revised borg dyspnea scale, and PEFR. However, in DBE group there was no significant difference in level of spo2.
Ageing become the public health burden. Stress and ageing will influence the immune system, causes poor health related outcomes among the older adults. Researcher found even though numerous studies have conducted in this area, but the problem persists among the older adults. With that view I have taken up this project. A well-structured tools, perceived stress scale (PSS) and stress coping assessment inventory was administered and responses elicited. Descriptive study was conducted among 20 older adults residing at selected old age home at Coimbatore. Results showed that among the selected samples, majority 60% of them are suffered with high level of stress and 70% of them are practicing average stress coping measures. Stress and stress coping are negatively correlated with each other. The selected variables Quality of life and frequency of visiting by the relatives are strongly associated with their stress level. Their Age places an important role in practicing the stress coping measures in a stress level environment. So the researcher recommended that various group activities, sharing sessions and family days can be planned for older adults residing in old age home.

Nurses can impact their health care in various work settings. Community health care is to facilitate public services. Nurses gain a broad understanding in their community, in order to influence the public debate about healthcare resource distribution. They will help people secure the resources and better care to be healthy. Advocacy can come up with information to elected officials which can be a source of significant influence and reward. As a member of the nursing profession, concerned with in the policy improvement manner, the nurse has the possibility and the obligation to provide accurate and up to date informations1. Advocacy is an organization that strengthens the problems they care about and help bringing systemic, lasting exchange. It can help community organization achieve political goals such as improving public services, transportation, information, education etc. Civil rights associations are imposed to protect better law including the legal recognition and other civil society organizations. Community advocacy helps people to take control of their own lives and provide practical support to overcome health and social care issues2. The new system of government and new organizations evolving help people to have more opportunities than ever before to become involved in the decision making process which affect their lives. The act of advocating itself can open newspapers for participation in the development process. Advocacy is directed at changing the policies, positions or programs of any type of institutions, wherever change is needed advocacy has a role play3. Nurse should be organized to speak about the troubles factually, that the data be based totally on credible research and that records be double checked and supplied in a succinct manner using an understandable language. The approach should be cordial and given in a spirit of cooperation with the desire of attaining the preferred final results or as a minimum suitable compromise.
The American Nurses Association (2001) mentions that nursing administrators assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards. The nurse administrators play an essential role in healthcare. The quality of patient care and organizational management system rests with this key role. This study explores the level of performance dimensions of nursing administrators in a private and public tertiary hospital. A descriptive-correlational design was used with 18 nurse administrators and 120 staff nurses. The findings revealed that the performance dimensions of the nurse administrators in a private and public tertiary hospital is remarkably highly competent. The profile on monthly income and length of service is not significantly associated to the level of performance dimensions of nurse administrators. The variables on communication skills (p=0.020), relationship skills (p=0.016) leadership and initiative (p=0.026) show a significant difference in the level of performance dimension between hospitals as evaluated by the nurse administrators themselves and staff nurses.
